snowbound

December 27, 2008

Man, there’s been a lot of snow lately.  We must have shoveled the driveway four different times on Christmas day alone.  It’s been snowing what seems to be non-stop since Tuesday night.  We have three + feet of snow stacked up on the east side of our driveway and about four feet piled up at the end of our driveway.  We’ve also got four-foot drifts of snow in our backyard.  Ryan and Betsy were playing atop one of the drifts in the backyard and the snow was so high, Ryan was able to look right over the top of the fence.  Melanie snapped some photos of it and will hopefully upload them tomorrow.

fun

I’ve found something recently.  It’s a TV channel called TVLand and it’s running episodes of 3rd Rock from the Sun.  I had completely forgotten about that show until last week when I stumbled upon it.  It’s pretty darn funny.

Cold

December 17, 2008

Uh, my car takes a while to warm up. After thirty minutes of driving this morning, I barely had enough heat to defrost the windshield.

Frugal

December 17, 2008

You know, I’ve just realized that I’ve only eaten out one time in the last 10 days. Anybody who knows me can attest to the fact that this is truly amazing. I’ve even been bringing frozen meals for lunch. Oh and I’ve lost even more weight. Yay me!

Finis!

December 17, 2008

Finally finally finally, the floor is complete! I’ve still got a bunch of baseboard to install but at least the floor is done. Along with that getting finished today, a new railing was installed along the stairs to replace the pony wall. It looks fantastic and really opens up the entry way, where the stairs begin. Here are some photos.

When I’m 6 …

December 14, 2008

This morning I was getting Ryan ready for church. He picked out the cutest sweater vest and button up shirt to wear. When I saw it I immediately remembered David loving that outfit too. I asked Ryan, “Do you know who used to wear that?”.

“No, who mom?”

“David used to wear this to church.”

Then Ryan got really quiet. We finished getting him ready and then he asked me what had been on his mind. “Mom, when I’m 6 do I have to wear Betsy’s clothes?”

I gave him a hug to stifle my laugh and told him he would never have to wear girl clothes. He let out a big sigh accompanied by “oh good,” then was off to play. It may have given Ryan a worry, but I had a great laugh!

More Flooring

Well, we finally have our kitchen and dining room done. Here are some photos.

Flooring

December 9, 2008

Now that our basement is done (for the most part) we have started devoting time to the upstairs. We ripped up the carpet yesterday and the hardwood floor started getting put down today.
